Taylor Neff, Ph.D.
Clinical Psychologist, PSY36562 ex. date 2/3/2028
Dr. Taylor Neff is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in problems related to shame, attachment, identity, loneliness, trauma in all of its forms, and suicidal thoughts and feelings. Above and beyond these specialties, she is driven to work with others seeking relief from pain as well as with individuals who are pursuing therapy to learn about themselves and grow. She has experience helping patients in a variety of formats utilizing both brief and long-term therapies as well as facilitating process and psychoeducational groups.
Dr. Neff’s approach to therapy is characterized by relational depth and emotional understanding with the goal of meaningful, lasting change. It is paramount that her clients feel heard, understood, and supported, where they experience therapy as a place to safely explore their experiences without judgment. Therapy is vulnerable and trust is earned and affirmed by the real experience of working together. Dr. Neff takes a collaborative, evidence-based approach, where the treatment plan is transparent and revisable according to your needs, preferences, and the therapist’s input and understanding of your problems.
Effective therapy is more than symptom relief, it can be transformative when it helps you get to the root of what’s troubling you. “Getting to the root” allows you to address the issues underlying your pain, change repeating patterns, pursue personal growth, and feel empowered to make your own choices in life. Dr. Neff is also passionate about the mental health of training and practicing clinicians. She has experience providing therapy to master’s level and doctoral therapists and encourages those who provide therapy to have experience in it themselves for all around growth and well-being.
She is also an advocate for the value of psychological testing to help others understand themselves and their problems. Testing is not simply about “diagnosing.” Formal psychological assessment can be a powerful tool to find clarity, feel seen and known, and cultivate hope by identifying a path forward in treatment. Such testing is uniquely valuable in its potential to provide these benefits in a relatively short amount of time and therefore aid your quest to find and utilize the treatment that is most effective for you.
Above all else, Dr. Neff believes in providing high quality care at all levels. People should have access to meaningful, comprehensive treatment before requiring more time-intensive and costly interventions. She hopes her work continues to play a role in making these services more widely available and educating others on the benefits of investing in personalized, in-depth clinical services early in the treatment journey.
On a more personal note, Dr. Neff loves a good horror movie as much as she enjoys the beach. She appreciates how horror has the potential to illuminate unseen and unspoken human experiences, from the mundane to the tragic, in a way that can be both evocative and validating.
