Joan Hall, Psy.D.

Clinical Psychologist, PSY33515

Dr. Hall is a licensed clinical psychologist who approaches her work from a relational perspective. The relationship between the patient and therapist is key to successful work.  She believes in providing a warm, safe, and holding environment where her patients can be open and accepted.  This approach allows the individual to access and better know their genuine true self.  Working in a partnership the therapist and the patient identify and explore obstacles to achieving goals and living their best lives.  Often people struggle to move forward from past hurts and trauma.  This suffering is debilitating and limits the ability to find joy, appreciate strengths, celebrate accomplishments, and to live the life they choose.

With over 30 years of practice Dr. Hall has worked in many different settings and with a broad spectrum of issues.  Her expertise is in working with adults by using a multidimensional approach.  She is well versed in research driven and empirically supported Cognitive Behavioral techniques, Mindfulness, Positive Psychology, and is also classically trained in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy.  An eclectic mix of these skills and techniques serves to increase awareness of self, awareness of the origins of issues such as developmental trauma, identify dysfunctional or negative patterns, as well as effective ways to address these.

Our work together will help to change unhelpful thoughts and emotions.  We will work to understand triggers and establish positive coping strategies. Each person is unique, their origin story and life experience is complex.  Knowing the complexities of your genuine self will allow you to strengthen your resilience and create a more fully realized life.
