Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT #99600, LPCC #13872

Have you ever heard of the term Tabula Rasa? The term Tabula Rasa explains that we as individuals are born with a “blank slate” and the people, relationships, and experiences around us paint the characteristics of who we become. The beauty of this theory is that negative and traumatic experiences can be painted over with new insights, personal growth, and emotional development.

I specialize in working with adults that are suffering from complex traumatic conditions, or individuals suffering from any form of personal dissonance. What I mean by this, is feeling an overall sense of tension, discomfort, or clashing of your inner self. Examples of complex trauma conditions include childhood sexual abuse, military or combat trauma, parental abandonment, etc. Examples of personal dissonance include gender identity issues, growing up with clashing cultures or belief systems, relationship/marital conflict, internal conflict, addictions/addictive behavior, etc. I utilize a variety of Evidenced Based Techniques along with Traditional Psychological Approaches in my therapy sessions that include Narrative Therapy, Gestalt/Existential Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I also utilize modern tools in therapy and personal assignments such as listening to podcast episodes, watching documentaries, or providing relevant reading material if interested. I prefer to work with adults and older teenagers as the type of work that I do requires gaining insight, taking accountability, setting active goals and discussing progress.

I have worked with previous mental health populations including victims of domestic violence/sexual abuse, addiction, severe mental illness including Major Depressive Disorder, Anxiety Disorders, Bipolar Disorder, and psychotic disorders including Schizophrenia and Schizoaffective Disorder. I provide mental health services both in English and Spanish. I am currently taking both in person and, tele-health therapy referrals.

Committing to start therapy is a difficult and intimidating process, but I would like to make the experience as safe, secure, and comfortable as possible. I offer a one-time free 30 consultation phone call to discuss your overall questions, reservations, and goals that you would like to obtain in this journey of therapy. The most important decision is to find a therapist who you feel you can trust, confide in, and not hold yourself back with. I welcome you to contact me with the information provided on this page to see if I may be the right fit for you.
